By using compaction and sintering processes the consolidation of
elemental mix powders Fe 0.45 Mn 0.25 Al 0.30 , was investigated.
The evolution on structural and magnetic properties was
examined by X-rays diffraction and Mössbauer spectroscopy.
Saturation values in density of 84% to pressures of 11 T/cm
2 , were obtained. During the sintering between 600- 1000
ºC (0-2 hours) was noted the presence of a two-phase
system conformed by (FeAl)Mn solid solution and a b -Mn
phase, indicating low solubility of Mn in the system. The
test tubes showed severe dimensional changes due to the
presence of Al in liquid phase.
